FLEX

Financially Liberated, Experiencing Life

Build a Life You Don’t Need to Escape From

More Freedom. More Passion. More Life.

What if success gave you more of your life back?

More time to travel. More freedom to pursue your passions. More energy for your relationships. More ability to build meaningful projects, create new income streams, and make a positive impact on the world.

That is what we call a Liberated Life™

For Kim and me, that means traveling roughly six months of the year, operating our businesses in about two or three focused workdays per week, continuing to grow our wealth, and having the freedom to spend more of our time on the things we genuinely care about.

We are not retired. We are still ambitious, still building, still growing our businesses and still creating. We just want our success to give us more freedom, not more obligations.

What Does It Mean to Be Financially Liberated?

Financial liberation does not necessarily mean having enough money that you never need to earn another dollar.

It means reaching a point where money and work stop controlling the architecture of your life.

For us, financial liberation means we can travel for months at a time while still operating successful businesses. It means we can continue building wealth without giving every day of the week back to work. It also means we can begin creating income streams around the things we are truly passionate about, rather than only doing work because it pays the bills.

Most importantly, it gives us more control over our time. That freedom allows us to focus more deeply on our relationship, our health, our passions, our communities, and the impact we want to make in the world.

That is our version of a Liberated Life™.

Freedom Creates Space for Passion

One of the most powerful things about financial liberation is that your interests no longer have to immediately become jobs.

Kim is a great example. She has been able to dedicate serious time to growing her art career, developing her style, creating new work, and building a brand around something she genuinely loves.

Could her art eventually become a significant income stream? Absolutely, and that is part of what we are building. But she does not need every piece of art to pay the mortgage today.

That freedom matters.

It gives her room to experiment, improve, create, and build something meaningful without forcing it to become profitable before it has had time to grow.

For Isaac, he was born to be an explorer! Living the Liberated Life has allowed Isaac to put in the time to create and travel 3-6 month epic road trips every year, visiting 42 of the 63 US National Parks, living in Europe for 3 months at a time, watching volcanos actively erupt in Hawaii, and so much more.

The same idea applies to almost anything. Maybe you want to write a book, start a nonprofit, build a new business, learn a new skill, travel for several months, spend more time with your kids, or work on a cause that matters to you.

Financial liberation gives your passions room to breathe.

We Built Our Business Around Our Life

Our Liberated Life™ did not happen overnight.

Years ago, Kim was working more than 50 hours a week as a Veterinary Technician. I had more flexibility, but I was still largely trading time for money. We both knew we wanted something different.

We wanted to travel. We wanted more control over our schedules. We wanted meaningful work, financial security, and enough freedom to enjoy the life we were working so hard to build.

So we started by asking a different question:

What do we actually want our life to look like?

Then we worked backwards.

We figured out what that lifestyle would cost, looked at the skills we already had, and built LocalFi into a location-independent business.

But we eventually learned that working remotely was not enough. You can work 50 hours a week from a beautiful beach and still be trapped by your business. The scenery improves, but the problem remains.

The real breakthrough came from building systems.

We documented what we did, created repeatable processes, trained a team, automated what we could, and gradually removed ourselves from work that did not require us.

That is what gave us back our time.

Today, Full Time to Travel Time is the continuing story of that experiment: Can we become increasingly successful while simultaneously becoming increasingly free?

So far, for the last 8 years, the answer has been yes!

A Liberated Life™ Is About More Than Money

Money is important, but money is the tool. It is not the destination.

For us, a Liberated Life™ includes several forms of freedom working together.

Flex A Liberated Life Is About More Than Money

Financial freedom means having enough income, assets, and security to support the life you want.

Time freedom means having meaningful control over your week.

Location freedom means being able to choose where you live, work, and explore.

Passion freedom means having room to pursue the things that fascinate you without immediately needing them to produce income.

Relationship freedom means having enough time and energy to enjoy the people you are building your life with.

Impact freedom means being able to use your skills, time, and resources to contribute to something bigger than yourself.

FLEX™ is not about maximizing one of those while sacrificing all the others. It is about intentionally designing a life where they support each other.

Building a Liberated Life™ Together

Building this kind of life as a couple adds another layer because you are not designing one life. You are designing two lives that need to work together.

Kim and I learned early that building a business together does not mean we should (or would) be good at the same things.

When we first started LocalFi, Kim was in sales because she’s an extrovert and was naturally social and great with people. I stayed more behind-the-scenes because I was the technical expert and more introverted.

It seemed logical, but it was wrong.

Over time, we discovered that Kim was exceptional at operations, organization, culture, and building systems. I discovered that I was much stronger at sales, strategy, and long-term relationship building than either of us expected.

Once we stopped trying to fit ourselves into the roles we thought we were supposed to have, the business started working much better.

That lesson became much bigger than business.

For couples, building a Liberated Life™ means understanding what each person is naturally good at, what gives each person energy, what you want to build together, and how your business and finances can support that life instead of consuming it.

That is one of the areas we are most passionate about helping other couples work through.

Your Liberated Life™ Will Look Different Than Ours

And that’s the point!

Maybe your version of freedom means traveling for six months a year. Maybe it means working three days a week. Maybe it means having summers with your kids, spending part of the year abroad, starting a business with your partner, or having enough financial breathing room to finally pursue a project you have been thinking about for years.

There is no single version of a Liberated Life™.

The goal is not to copy ours.

The goal is to create enough financial, time, and personal freedom that you have more control over how you spend your life.

You can still build wealth. You can still build businesses. You can still be ambitious.

You simply do not have to postpone experiencing your life while you are doing it.

That is FLEX™.

Your Liberated Life Will Look Different Than Ours

Build Your Liberated Life™ With Us

Kim and I now help individuals and couples create their own version of a Liberated Life™.

We help you work backwards from the life you actually want, understand what that life will require financially, identify income opportunities, clarify the roles each person should play, and build systems that begin giving you your time back.

This is especially powerful for entrepreneurs and couples building businesses together, because the goal is not simply to make more money. The goal is to build a business and financial life that creates more options.

If you have spent years thinking about how to build wealth, grow your business, or become more successful, there is another question worth asking:

What do you want all of that success to make possible?

Let’s work backwards from the life you want and figure out what it would actually take to build it!
